The Prisma satellites were launched from Yasny, Russia, on 15 June 2010.
The two Prisma satellites Mango and Tango were launched clamped together on a Dnepr launcher. The French climate research satellite Picard was launched on the same launcher.
On 10 August, Mango and Tango were separated from each other and the formation flying experiments could commence.
The estimated life time for Prisma is around ten months. Prisma has a a low, sun-synchronous, dawn/dusk orbit at 600 km altitude.
The ground station and mission control center is located at SSC's engineering center in Solna. The newly developed RAMSES ground control system is central.
The mission is carried out as a long series of experiments, including both manoeuvring and sensor/motor experiments. A certain number of days are allocated to each party.
The daily operations are highly autonomous and the companies involved are able to supervise their experiments "from home" via internet.
